Sportando's interview with Facundo Campazzo: 'I play with confidence and my teammates trust me'
Our interview with the point guard of Real Madrid
After the game against Milano in Euroleague, we had the chance for a quick talk with Real Madrid's point guard Facundo Campazzo. We asked him about the game but also about his new role with Real Madrid and the new FIBA windows for the National teams. Here's the result of our conversation with Campazzo:
Sportando: 'What can you tell us about the game against Milano? What was the key to the win?
Campazzo: 'I think we were able to impose our rhythm tonight, that was the key. Defensively we were very intense and on the offensive side we shared the ball in the right way, all of us were involved offensively. Everybody scored and that led to a very important win for us. "
Sportando: 'This is basically your second experience with Real Madrid after the two years spent in Murcia. What's the difference from your first experience? Which kind of changes did you notice?"
Campazzo: "Now I have a different kind of role here in Madrid. After Llull's injury, I started to play more minutes but of course, during the summer I didn't prepare for that. But I worked hard to be the point guard of this team and my teammates gave me the right amount of confidence to play in the best way possible"
Sportando: 'A few years ago you had the chance to get Italian passport but in the end, you decided to take Spanish passport? Can you explain what happened at that time?
Campazzo: 'I'm not entirely sure what happened during the process. Italian federation wasn't able to complete the process to give me the passport, maybe there was some kind of problem with some documents. In the end, it was easier and quicker to get the Spanish passport so I decided to go in that direction. But of course I have Italian blood in my veins and I'm learning also how to speak it. "
Sportando: "What's your opinion about the new FIBA windows for the NTs? You didn't have the chance to play for your NT this season"
Campazzo: "The new system it's a little bit strange but it's something new, so I think we have to give some time to this new system, so we can see if we can adapt to it. Of course, all the players hope that FIBA and Euroleague can find a solution, so there won't be problems like in the last few months. But, like all the new things, this system brings new changes and we need to adapt to them, hoping that will bring something good to basketball world"
