Problem for Tyrese Rice
As reported by Il Mundo Deportivo, Tyrese Rice could lost his passport if he will not play with Montenegro in Eurobasket.
The story begins in July 2013 when Montenegro offered the passport to Rice, then player of Maccabi Tel Aviv. The American base accepted and went to the European Championship of 2013 of Slovenia where Montenegro fell in the first phase with 2 wins and 3 losses. After that Rice forgot about her new country and never played Montenegro again. It is clear that in the Federation they were not happy about it but they kept hoping to recover it.
The gout that filled the glass of patience came this summer when Rice again avoided playing the previous round for Eurobasket 2017. From Boston Rice sent a medical report where it was written that she should rest for eight weeks because of an injury. In the federation thought bad luck but when two weeks and was already playing with Barcelona.
So the federation contacted FC Barcelona threatening to withdraw their passport which would mean that the player would lose his European status and that would generate a problem for the Barca that in this case would have three foreigners.
Barça signed a document guaranteeing Rice's presence with the national team on July 20, 2017. The agreement contains a fairly high reward in the event that Rice is absent again. It is not clear how Barça will force Rice to comply with this agreement, but at least this is what he has signed
