Superior Council of Sports asks FEB and ACB to reduce the number of teams in ACB to 16
The next campaign would be as a transition year with 18 teams
The Superior Council of Sports (CSD) in Spain has proposed the Basketball Federation (FEB) and ACB to reduce the number of teams in top Spanish league to 16.
The next campaign would be as a transition year with 18 teams and then have only 17 teams in 2018-2019.
This season 17 teams participated in ACB.
The goal of CSD is to allow the promotion in top division of clubs that obtain this right and reduce the numbers of game during the season.
CSD wants to maintain the current competitions (ACB, Copa del Rey, Supercopa) as well as the competition system with playoffs after the regular season.
