Ladontae Henton's Scouting Report

The rookie signed in Spain

ACB

Positives: Henton is very tough and physical PF with scoring mentality. He simply finds the way to score the ball and is constantly in attack mode. Henton can score the ball in multiple ways – he is really good 3pt shooter, and cant be left alone behind the arc because he will definitely use every opportunity he has in order to punish defense. He likes to stretch defense and if players who guard him are slower than he is, Henton is more than capable of putting the ball on the floor and finishing at rim. He is not overly quick, however Henton is very tough and physical, and likes to finish through contact and fouls. He gets fouled a lot because around the basket he likes to get into defenders and use their bodies in order to initiate contact. On the low post game, he likes to shoot over his right shoulder (he is left handed), and really likes to face up and settle defender’s hands. He is very effective when he catches the ball at the elbow and play 1 on 1, because he is very good in traffic and understand how to use small space to operate. Henton has really long arms, which helps him a lot in his rebounding game. He has been one of the conference’s leading rebounders because he uses his athleticism and length, and is constantly present at glass on both ends of the floor. Henton’s mentality and toughness are key factors to his game.

Negatives: Henton has to improve his lateral quickness defensively – this is something he really misses in order to become great player. Since he is 6-6 he has to be able to defend players who play on positions 3 and 4 and at this moment he struggles to defend players who are faster than he is. Because he lacks lateral quickness he is not great on ball defender and he really has to improve in this segment of the game. Offensively, when he puts the ball on the floor, Henton is very left hand dominant and most of time he likes to create with his left hand and prefers to finish with the same hand. He has to work on developing and using his right hand more. Moreover he still has room for improving his ball handling skills and this would really help him in order to become even better offensive player
