Tyler Haws' scouting report

Positives: Haws is very aggressive SG, who is capable of scoring the ball in numerous ways. Haws is terrific scorer, especially from the mid range. Haws is decent ball handler and in transition he is capable of pushing the ball up the court, aggressively, trying to score every time. In the half court offense, Haws is impressive coming off screens and making the right read. He is capable of setting his feet really fast and squaring his body and shoulders, which helps him a lot with his jumper. Haws moves really well without the ball; he likes using screens and making the right move depending on where the defense is positioned; he is capable of shooting right away or putting the ball on the floor and driving the ball. Haws has quick release and it doesn’t matter if he shoots it off the dribble (usually mid range pull up) or coming off screens, his jumper is right on point. Because of decent ball handling skills, haws can be seen in ball screen situations – he can create coming off ball screen. Haws is really good at initiating contact and drawing fouls, especially on his drives (shoots 7FT per game). Haws is also good from behind the arc, where he will usually shoot from catch and shoot situations, not forcing too many shots. Overall, he is versatile offensive player with great scoring ability. Defensively he improved from last season, however this is something he still has to work on. 

Negatives: As already mentioned, Haws has to improve defensively, especially on his lateral movement, in order to keep players on the perimeter positions in front of him. He did improve a lot in this segment of the game, since his footwork is not bad, however he can still be better on ball defender. Moreover in some situations he can take some tough and off balanced shots. He draws a lot of attention from defenders when the ball is in his hands; and if he is not in the great scoring situation, he can be better passer involving his teammates.
