The extreme measure will be to boycott FIBA World Cup

Spanish players of ACB may boycott FIBA World Cup if the “Consejo Superior de Deporters” will cut the number of mandatory homegrown players in the rosters for next ACB season, according to ElContraataque.
European Commission asked to Spanish government to reduce the numbers of mandatory homegrown players in ACB because too limiting for other European and cotonou players.
ACB obliges team to have at least 4 homegrown players in roster with 11 athletes and 5 homegrown players in rosters with 12 athletes.
To be considered homegrown in Spain the players must have played at least three years from 14 to 20 year old in one of the Spanish teams.
ACB executive president proposed to cut to 3 the numbers of homegrowns in roster with 11 players and to 4 the number of homegrowns for roster with 12 players.
But it looks like the cut will be bigger till maximum 2 homegrowns per team.
The ACB Player Association replied saying that “Consejo Superior de Deporters” cannot decide without talking with the players first and they threat a strike.
