Coach Rob Beveridge agrees with Perth Wildcats
L'allenatore del World Team al Nike Hoop Summit nuovo allenatore della squadra di Perth
The Perth Wildcats has announced the signing of Rob Beveridge as its head coach for the next three years.
Wildcats owner and chairman Jack Bendat called it a new beginning for the club.
With the reform of the sport nationally and the new direction of the club to recruit an experienced head coach with a proven track record, I am excited about the season ahead, he said.
Beveridge was head coach for the Sydney Spirit in the NBL and coached Australia to a gold medal at the 2003 World Junior Championships. He was also assistant coach with the Australian Senior mens basketball team (Boomers) at the 2004 Olympics, 2006 Commonwealth Games (Gold) and the World Championships in 2006.
Beveridge has been the head coach of the World Team for the last five years, at the NIKE Hoop Summit against Team USA, most recently securing an upset win against the US. Five of his players have been NBA Draft picks.
"Today we launch our campaign for the 2009/2010 season, with this announcement", Mr Bendat said. "I hope all Western Australians will support us with memberships, corporate boxes and sponsorship as we seek to once again regain the national crown".
With four championships and 23 consecutive playoffs, the Wildcats are winners on court, and with the increased focus on engaging with the community, kids and grass roots basketball, with your help we can continue to be winners off-court as well.
Perth Wildcats announced that they have cleared Alex Loughton to play in the SBL competition. Loughton is expected to play Wanneroo Wolves.
