Sydney Kings sign Aleks Maric
The big man signs in Australia
The Sydney Kings are thrilled today to announce the signing of Aleks Maric, an established and decorated player who has plied his trade in Europe for the past eight years.
Maric has gained a reputation as a winner over the course of a successful career overseas, securing contracts with several basketball powerhouse outfits.
Rising to stardom at Partizan Belgrade in 2010, he was part of a Serbian Cup and Adriatic League championship winning team. That breakout season confirmed his position in the Boomers hierarchy, with representation for Australia at the 2010 World Championships as well as the 2012 London Olympics quickly following. Signing with Greek powerhouse Panathinaikos, Maric won a Euroleague title in his first season with the club in 2011. A further Greek Cup and league championship ensued during his two-year stint in Athens. Maric then tasted a Eurocup Championship with Lokomotiv Kuban in 2013, the most prestigious trophy in the club’s history.
The Kings’ third significant addition this off-season (with Kevin Lisch & Brad Newley) Maric’s acquisition sees the continuation of an exciting roster rebuild.
