NBL: Wellington is the new champion of New Zealand
Victory against Waitakere in the Final Four Final
Saints Wellington are the champions of New Zealand for the ninth time in the NBL history, winning the 2016 Final Four after the succes in 2014 and the defeat in the final of the past season.
Wellington won the semifinal against the hosts and 2015 champions of Southland for 79-75, not enough for the Sharks the effort of Alex Pledger (best rebounder of the season). Across Waitakere eliminated Canterbury with the 104-85 victory, despite the 35+7+6 game of the MVP McKenzie Moore and the good match of Marcel Jones, best New Zealand player of the year.
Great start in the Grand Final for the Saints, and final victory 94-82 for the title thanks to the Finals MVP Tai Wesley (19+7) and the help from Henry and Craig. For Waitakere it was really important the absence for injury of the seasonal top scorer Eric Devendorf (25ppg), losing effort from Corey Webster, Lindsay Tait e Terrence Roberts.
