Igor Hadziomerovic signs with Melbourne United
The rookie returns to Australia
The final addition to CTI Melbourne United’s active playing roster is a perfect example of a young player following the pathway from juniors to the NBL.
Former Melbourne Tigers junior and Caulfield Grammar student Igor Hadziomerovic returns to his hometown after four years at Boise State University.
“Igor is an example of what young basketballers from Melbourne can achieve with dedication and hard work,” CTI Melbourne United CEO Vince Crivelli said. “We think Igor will help kids realise they can achieve what he has if they work at it.”
A member of the Australian Under-19 team at the 2011 world titles, Hadziomerovic also has an AIS scholarship on his impressive basketball CV.
A national championship winner for the Victoria Under-20 team, the 193cm guard gained a reputation as a hard-working team-first player at Boise.
“He understands his role and playing his role at the highest level,” Boise State head coach Leon Rice said. “When you get guys like that buying in it bodes well for your team.
“Over the years his role has evolved. He was asked to score less and he accepted that role because he wanted to be part of a championship team.”
Which means Hadziomerovic is a perfect fit for the reshaped CTI Melbourne United roster heading into the 2015-16 NBL season.
