Adelaide 36ers keep Anthony Petrie and Brendan Teys
The two players will stay with the Australian team
The Adelaide 36ers have retained Anthony Petrie and Brendan Teys for the upcoming 2014/15 season with both players taking up contract options to remain with the club who went all the way to the Grand Final in 2013/14.
One of the leading big men in the game, Petrie averaged 10.9 points per game and 6.6 rebounds while Brendan Teys was elevated to the starting lineup towards the end of the season, contributing to the 36ers Finals run.
“Anthony (Petrie) won the ‘Best Team Mate’ award last season showing his standing within the group. He’s certainly one of the leaders and an important part of our plans to go one step further next season and win the NBL Championship.” said 36ers General Manager, Dean Parker.
Teys meanwhile was recognised by Adelaide as the Most Improved Player at the club during their end of season awards function.
"We're very happy to have Brendan back for next season, he certainly took some big steps this season. He's a hard worker and we are confident he can continue to grow as a player." said Adelaide Head Coach, Joey Wright.
While Teys was assigned a 5-point rating by the NBL, he will remain a 1-point player for the coming year after taking up the option on the original contract he signed prior to last season.
Petrie now shifts his focus to a potential run with the Australian Boomers in the off-season, hopeful of being called up by coach Andrej Lemanis as he was last year.
During the off-season Teys will be plying his trade with the Brisbane Spartans of the SEABL.
