Kyle Adnam signs with Sydney Kings
It's a one year pact
The Sydney Kings today announced that guard Kyle Adnam has agreed to terms with the club for the 2018/2019 NBL season.
After beginning his NBL career in 2013/2014 as a development player for the Adelaide 36ers, the 24 year-old has spent the past three seasons with Melbourne United where he became a key backup off the bench and was a member of United’s NBL championship-winning team in 2018.
Putting up solid numbers for Melbourne, the 186cm (6’1”), 83kg (183lb) Adnam had a career-high 23 points in the second game of the 2017/2018 season and became a fan favourite.
Adnam is currently starring for the Nelson Giants in the NZNBL, averaging 18.5 points, 7.8 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 2.8 steals per game while shooting 52.1% from the field.
He is ranked in the top five of the league for assists and steals and is coming off a near triple-double in his team’s thrilling win over Taranaki last weekend, tallying 20 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds.
Following his release from Melbourne United by mutual agreement, the Kings and Adnam struck a deal for him to join the purple and gold, a move that Head Coach Andrew Gaze has backed with enthusiasm.
“We feel that Kyle will be a valuable addition to our roster. He brings energy and quickness and he’s showing again in the NZNBL currently just what he can do. We’ve seen first-hand over the last couple of seasons what he is capable of when he hits the floor and we look forward to Kyle bringing those things to the table in Sydney”, Mr Gaze said.
Sydney Kings’ Managing Director Jeff Van Groningen added that the acquisition of Adnam fulfils one of the squad’s immediate recruitment needs.
