Alan Wiggins inks with Adelaide 36ers

Wiggins moves to Australia

The Adelaide 36ers have signed US import Alan Wiggins on a one-year deal. The 206cm forward from San Diego brings a wealth of experience to the 36ers’ roster, embarking on his eleventh season of pro basketball.

Wiggins has played in ten different countries across three continents including Japan, Belgium, France, Korea, Lebanon, Romania, Ukraine, Turkey and China.

Adelaide 36ers coach Joey Wright described the 33-year-old as a crafty veteran player, who will bring an abundance of experience to the squad.

“Alan is a multi-dynamic player. He can play a little bit on the inside, a little bit on the outside, so we’ll use him that way.

“He fits into our style of play very well. Some nights he’ll operate from the perimeter, some nights he’ll go down to the block.

“We just felt with our group, to bring in another stable, veteran player would be great. Someone who’s been through the traps before, so we’re looking forward to having him on board,” he said.

Wiggins, who played college basketball at the University of San Francisco, comes from a illustrious sporting family, with his father Alan Wiggins senior playing second base for the Padres and his sister Candice playing WNBA.

The forward played for the Aomori Watts in Japan last season, averaging 15.6 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.2 assist in 60 games.

In the 2015-16 season, Wiggins played at BK Ventspils in Latvia and was named in the Latvian League All-Stare Game.
