Lithuania advanced to the Final Phase of the FIBA EuroBasket 2017 with a 94-62 blowout victory over Ukraine in Group B in Tel Aviv.
Lithuania saw a 17-point lead after 10 minutes cut to five midway through the second quarter but turned on the after-burners in improving to 3-1 in the group. Jonas Valanciunas led the way with 22 points and 14 rebounds while Mantas Kalnietis chipped in 10 points and 11 assists.
Ukraine dropped to 1-3 in the group despite 29 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals from Artem Pustovyi. The Ukrainians are still alive for a spot in the Round of 16.
Germany booked their ticket to the FIBA EuroBasket 2017 Round of 16 after beating Italy 61-55 in Group B in Tel Aviv.
Germany, who got 17 points from Dennis Schroder and 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists from Johannes Voigtmann, executed their defensive game plan better than the Italians. Italy's star combo of Marco Belinelli and Luigi Datome combined for just 21 points on 7-of-28 shooting, including 3-of-15 from long range. Ariel Filloy paced the Italians with 15 points.
Germany are 3-1 in Group B and Italy are 2-2.
Georgia remained in the running for the Final Phase of the FIBA EuroBasket 2017 by beating Israel 104-91 in Group B and also eliminating the host team.
Tornike Shengelia collected a monster double-double of 25 points and 19 rebounds and Zaza Pachulia added 19 points and 11 rebounds in picking up the win to improve to 2-2 in Group B in Tel Aviv. Georgia can still finish as high as second in the group but also fail to advance, though there is a scenario where Georgia would advance even with a loss against Italy.
Gal Mekel's 23 points, and a further 19 from Richard Howell were not enough as Israel were eliminated with a 1-3 record.
