EuroBasket 2017 Group A: France and Poland first win, Slovenia on top undefeated

Just one team without defeats in the Helsinki group, Iceland 0-2

EuroBasket
Poland have won their first game of the tournament with a decisive 91-61 victory over winless Iceland in Group A action on Game Day 2.
Poland's size advantage overwhelmed Iceland as they built a decisive early lead and cruised to victory in a one-sided second-half. Captain Adam Waczynski was superb with 15 points and 6 rebounds, while Hordur Vilhjalmsson tried hard for Iceland with 16 points.
Despite the sizeable loss, a large army of Iceland fans made plenty of noise throughout, including Iceland President Gudni Johannesson.

France have overcome a resilient Greece to win their first game of the tournament in Group A action on Saturday.
Having led by 24 points at one stage, France nearly let slip another lead as Greece got within 6 points late in the game but they survived to register a 95-87 victory. France pulled through in the clutch to avoid a similar fate to their Day 1 loss to Finland.
France were led by Joffrey Lauvergne, who starred early and finished with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Thanasis Antetokounmpo sparked his team with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 2 blocks but Greece have now fallen to a 1-1 record.

Slovenia have continued their winning ways with a thrilling 81-78 victory over Finland in Group A action.
Goran Dragic scored 24 of his 29 points in the first-half and center Anthony Randolph became an unlikely hero with a steal off Lauri Markkanen followed by a dunk with 3 seconds left. Only moments earlier he had missed two free throws.
Markkanen stepped out of bounds on the final play of the game and appeared to suffer an injury as he limped off the court. He finished with 24 points and 7 rebounds but Finland have dropped to a 1-1 record.
