Eurobasket 2017 Group C: Croatia, Spain and Czech Republic open with victories

Croatia wins after a tough game against Hungary. Spain destroys Montenegro. Satoranszky leads Czech vs Romania

CROATIA-HUNGARY 67-58

Croatia started their Group C campaign with a hard-fought 67-58 win over Hungary, led by Bojan Bogdanovic who had yet another stellar performance for the red-and-white team.

Bogdanovic put up 23 points in 37 minutes on the court, and Dario Saric lend a helping hand with 15 points for Croatia. Hungary's hopes were cut short at the half, as Adam Hanga went down with an injury. Hanga looked relaxed after the game, saying he is fine and ready to go on in the campaign. Zoltan Perl was the leading scorer for Hungary with 12 points.



SPAIN-MONTENEGRO 99-60

Since adding a certain person named Pau Gasol to their lineup, Spain have won 168 out of 200 games. They opened up their account in Romania with a 99-60 triumph against Montenegro.

Pau Gasol moved to second place in the all-time scoring list at FIBA EuroBasket, getting 1054 points for his team. Dirk Nowitzki dropped to third place with 1052, Tony Parker is still leading with 1104 points.

The older Gasol had 10 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 blocks; Willy Hernangomez led all scorers with 18 points, whilst Sergio Rodriguez dished out 10 assists in less than 14 minutes on the floor. Nikola Vucevic had 16 points for Montenegro.



CZECH REPUBLIC-ROMANIA 83-68

Czech Republic showed they might not be a one-man band after all. Tomas Satoransky and Vojtech Hruban combined for 45 points in an 83-68 win over Romania.

Satoransky went all around the floor to collect 20 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists, while Hruban connected on 10-of-19 shots from the field to lead all scorers with 25 points. Vlad Moldoveanu kept the home fans singing all game long with 24 points, but Romania had to settle for a 15-point loss.
