EuroBasket 2017 Group B: Germany, Georgia and Italy open with wins
Georgia made the surprise of the day beating Lithuania. Easy wins for Italy and Germany against Israel and Ukraine
GERMANY-UKRAINE 75-63
Dennis Schroder showed why he is Germany's leader with 32 points, 7 assists and 5 rebounds in leading his team to a 75-63 victory over Ukraine in their FIBA EuroBasket 2017 Group B opener.
Germany started cold but poured it on after the first quarter with Robin Benzing adding 17 points. Ukraine just could not stop Schroder and did not have the the offensive weapons either, Olexandr Mishula leading the way with 12 points.
GEORGIA-LITHUANIA 79-77
Georgia exacted revenge on Lithuania with a 79-77 victory in their FIBA EuroBasket 2017 Group B opener.
Tornike Shengelia poured in 29 points and Michael Dixon had 12 points and 7 assists as Georgia won two years after Lithuania beat them in the Round of 16 at FIBA EuroBasket 2015. Mindaugas Kuzminskas paced Lithuania with 18 points.
ITALY-ISRAEL 69-48
Italy rained on Israel's parade as Marco Belinelli and Luigi Datome combined for 34 points on 10 three-pointers in Italy's 69-48 win over the FIBA EuroBasket 2017 Group B hosts Israel.
Belinelli had 18 points and Datome collected 16 points and 8 rebounds while Nicolo Melli had 9 points and 10 rebounds. Israel wasted 18 points from Omri Casspi.
