Mike James signs with Olimpia Milano
He signed a multi-year contract
Pallacanestro Olimpia Milano has reached a multi-year agreement with Mike James, coming from Panathinaikos Athens of the Greek League and EuroLeague.
HIS CAREER – Mike James was born in Portland, Oregon, on August 18, 1990. He’s a 1.85 mt combo-guard. He played for the Grant High School in Portland winning the Oregon state title in 2008. Then he spent two years at Eastern Arizona Junior College (he was the fourth best scorer at Junior College level in his second year there) and another two years at Lamar University. In 2011/12 he scored 17.1 points per game and Lamar won the Southland Conference title and qualified for the NCAA Tournament. James was included in the All-Southland first team and was the conference torunament’s MVP. As a professional he played in Zagreb (19.1 points per game), for Hapoel Gilboa (22.8 points per game), in Omegna in the second Italian league (21.6 points per game), then at the Kolossos Rhodes in Greece (21.0 points per game) moving to Vitoria during the 2014/15 season with the EuroLeague debut (he averaged 11.1 points per game). He played two seasons in Vitoria (10.0 points per game during the 2015/16 season when Vitoria reached the Final Four) then went on to Panathinaikos winning twice the Greek title and once the Greek Cup. In EuroLeague play, he scored 13.1 points per game in 2016/17 and 16.2 points in 2017/18. In 2017/18 he signed for the Phoenix Suns of the NBA remaining there until January (with a career-high of 26 points in a single game and 10.4 points per game in 32 appearances) when he returned to Athens to close the season after a short stay in New Orleans.
NOTES – While at Lamar he scored 52 points in a single game against Louisiana, a All-Time high for a Lamar player. As a senior he scored 29 points against Kentucky who eventually won the NCAA title. He played the EuroLeague Final Four in 2016 (his team was defeated in the semifinals by Fenerbahce). He scored 20 points in Athens in the Final four-clinching game. He scored 18 points with 30 of index rating in Game 5 of the Greek playoff finals against Olympiacos in 2018. In the five games of the final series he scored 92 points overall.
