Milano may allow some Italian players to join NT during FIBA windows? Proli: We'll see
ProlI: We'll see. If it is possible, we may allow some players to join the National Team. Milano’s interests can’t be subordinated to the interestsof the National Team
Olimpia Milano president Livio Proli, in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, did not completely close the doors at allowing some of EA7’s Italian players to join the National Team during the new FIBA windows.
The Italian players of Milano are Simone Fontecchio, Andrea Cinciarini, Marco Cusin, Davide Pascolo, Awudu Abass.
“We’ll see. If it is possible, we may allow some players to join the National Team. But if we’ll have a short roster the interests of the club are more important. This is a situation created by politics. Suspensions? Why they should punish our players if this doesn’t happen for the NBAers or other Italian players in EuroLeague teams abroad? There is an ongoing clash between basketball institutions that doesn’t protect who invests in basketball. Milano’s interests can’t be subordinated to the interestsof the National Team” Proli said.
Interviewed by Tuttosport, Proli added that Olimpia Milano's budget is €20-24 million maximum.
