Orlandina Basket adds the Canadian shooting guard Justin Edwards (6’3, class of 1992), who played last season in Hungary with Alba Fehérvár, winning the Hungarian Cup and the Domestic League Championship.
He averaged 14.3 points plus 4.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.3 steals in 26.1 minutes per game, helping his team to win the decisive game-5 of the League final against Falco KC with 13 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks.
Edwards also had a successful season in the FIBA Europe Cup, helping his team to win 8 games out of 12, scoring 16.9 points (reaching the double digit in every game, season-high 22) with 4.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists.
The new Orlandina Basket guard has been pre-selected by coach Jay Triano to be a part of the Canadian National Team that will prepare for the FIBA Americup 2017 (August 25-September 3): he may join his new teammates after this international basketball duties. Canada has been included in Group B (Bahìa Blanca, Argentina) together with the hosts, the Virgin Islands and Venezuela.
Giuseppe Sindoni (Orlandina Basket Sports Director): “We’ve been watching Justin during his European rookie season in Hungary, where he has won both the domestic Cup and League Title and also played very well in the FIBA Europe Cup. We think he has a great combination of athleticism and technical skills, which made him a top level player. We believe that he can fit very well with our young backcourt and that he will be very consistent playing twice a week in the Italian and European competition. We saw a great capability to learn and adapt to the European basketball style in him, that’s why we think he can be the right man to our team”.
