The three Italian clubs offered to play just next season in Eurocup and then give their licenses to Legabasket to return to sports criteria but the negotiations fell apart

The president of the Italian Basketball Federation will send on Wednesday a letter to FIBA saying that in Italy the clubs will respect FIBA, FIP and CONI’s rules, as reported by Il Corriere dello Sport and Tuttosport.
FIBA sent a letter to the Italian Basketball Federation last week drawing its attention to recent reports and public statements which suggest that one or more of their clubs may have entered into such agreement with ECA. As a result these federations are invited to submit their position before 20th April in order to not automatically forfeit their right to participate in the upcoming senior men national team competitions.

Italy is unlikely to being suspended from next Eurobasket 2017.

FIP is ready to suspend Trento, Reggio Emilia and Sassari if they won’t step back from their decisions to play in Eurocup. On Friday there will be a meeting between those three teams, FIP and CONI.

Tuttosport reports that the three Italian clubs offered to play just next season in Eurocup and then give their licenses to Legabasket to return to sports criteria but the negotiations fell apart.
