Wayne Blackshear's Scouting Report

Positives: Blackshear is very physical and athletic 3 man who can also play minutes at PF position in some situations. He has been the glue guy for the Cardinals in the past, player who runs the floor really well in transition, makes his open shots, and defend. Blackshear main offensive tool is his 3pts shooting ability. He is good 3pts shooter, who is very good in catch-and-shoot situations; he sets his feet really well and has nice looking stroke and quick release. He has improved his one dribble pull-up, however if he puts the ball on the floor he likes to go all the way to the rim and finish. Blackshear has good lateral quickness, well-developed upper body and great body control when in the paint. Because of his upper body strength he finishes well with the contact and does not avoid it. Blackshear can play as PF when necessary and he can be used to spread the defense or to beat his guys off the dribble. Defensively he is very helpful since because of his athleticism and lateral quickness he can stay in front of players who play on 3 position, but because of his physicality he can also defend PF position. He is very active on the glass both offensively and defensively and goes strong to get rebounds.

Negatives: Blackshear has to improve his ball handling skills and creativity. He is mainly catch-and-shoot player or straight drive to the basket; he has to get better in creating his own shot off the dribble as well as creating opportunities for his teammates. He has physical and athletic ability to be effective offensive all around player if he improves in this segment of the game.
