Despite having finished the Eurocup regular season undefeated a month ago, Alba Berlin on Friday dismissed head coach Luka Pavicevic after three-and-a-half seasons together. The club said in a statement that the team's assistant coaches would direct the team until a replacement is named. Pavicevic led Alba to the Eurocup title game last season, which it lost to Power Electronics Valencia. Alba entered the Euroleague qualifying rounds at the start of this season, but couldn't win the third of them to reach the Euroleague. In the Eurocup regular season, Alba was one of two teams to go unefeated at 6-0. The other undefeated team, Benetton Bwin, defeated Alba 74-71 in the first game of the Last 16. Pavicevic joined Alba for the 2007-08 season and immediately led the club to its eighth German League title and a place in the Euroleague. In 2008-09, under Pavicevic, Alba reached the Euroleague's Top 16. Despite its inspired run to last season's Eurocup final, Alba has been unable to reclaim the German League title under Pavicevic and sits tied for third place with a 13-6 record this season. Prior to Alba, Pavicevic coached three teams in his native Serbia - OKK Belgrade, Atlas Belgrade and Hemofarm Vrsac - and Panionios of Greece.
