Ricky Hickman signs two-year deal with Brose Bamberg
He left Olimpia Milano
German champion Brose Bamberg added another experienced piece to its backcourt by signing former EuroLeague champion Ricky Hickman on a two-year deal. Hickman (1.89 meters, 31 years old) won the 2014 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague title with Maccabi Tel Aviv and was chosen to the All-EuroLeague Second Team that same season. He has also been to another two EuroLeague Final Fours with Fenerbahce Istanbul, though he did not play in the 2015 edition due to injury. Hickman arrives from EA7 Emporio Armani Milan, where he averaged 10.1 points and 3.3 assists in 30 EuroLeague games last season.
Hickman took a long and winding road to success in the EuroLeague; he began his professional career with PVSK Pecs of Hungary and then played for CS Otopeni Bucuresti of Romania and BG 74 Goettingen in the German second division. After moving to Giessen 46ers of Germany and Namika Lahti of Finland, Hickman went to Italy for stints with Junior Casale of the second division and Scavolini Pesaro in the country's top flight. He joined Maccabi and made his EuroLeague debut in 2012, and was the club’s leading scorer there during its run to EuroLeague glory. He also helped Maccabi win an Israeli League title and two Israeli Cups in his two seasons with the club. With Fenerbahce, he captured one Turkish crown and one Turkish Cup and last season won the Italian Cup with Milan. Hickman received a Georgian passport and played for that country’s national team at EuroBasket 2013.
