FFBB asked FIBA to modify dates of windows, stated new calendar generated a loss of €2M per year
FFBB also said that centralization of the TV Rights, among others, is just a pure loss of direct income
French Basketball Federation sent two letters to FIBA on September 18 (letters obtained by Eurohoops). And in one letter FFBB asked FIBA the “modification of the dates of the windows while awaiting a decision from the European commission”.
FFBB also asked FIBA “an invitation to all the countries put at a disadvantage from this qualification system to the World Cup 2019 where the presence of players from the NBA and/or EuroLeague will add certain value”.
But FFBB also stated in the letter “we are confirming an annual net loss of 2 million € per year of the federal budget due to the non-renewal of partnership related to the scheduling issues and absence of major players” (23 for France, 10 in the NBA and 13 in EuroLeague).
