In an emotional ceremony held before the Eurocup Regular Season Round 3 game in Ljubljana, Slovenia between Union Olimpija and Telekom Baskets Bonn, the home club retired the jersey with number 12 belonging to Marko Milic. Probably the most iconic player of the team during the last 15 years, Milic decided to put an end to his career as a player during an announcement last October 14. Milic had a lengthy career as a forward that started in 1991 with Triglav Kranj and since then, he played in many countries with several teams including Real Madrid of Spain, Fortitudo Bologna of Italy, the Phoenix Suns of the NBA, or, of course, his beloved Union Olimpija during as many as four stints. He played his last two years in Kuwait with Al Kuwait.

Milic's roll of honors is not one that any player can claim for himself. He won 4 Slovenian Leagues and 4 Slovenian Cups with Union Olimpija and led the team to its only Euroleague Final Four appearance so far, in 1997. With Real Madrid he had his biggest success as a player with the ULEB Cup title of 2007 paired with a Spanish League title that same year. He also won the Kuwait League in 2014. Milic scored a total 982 points in 89 Euroleague games and 152 in 13 Eurocup games when it was known as the ULEB Cup.
