Blaz Mesicek signs 5-year deal with Union Olimpija

Union Olimpija Ljubljana­ agreed terms with 18-years old top Euro­pean prospect Blaž Mesiček­ (197 cm, 1997) on his first 5-year prof­essional contract. Mesiček played for yo­uth categories of Union Olimpija Ljubljana­ and on loan at Slovenian second divisio­n club Škofja Loka. Young guard won U19 and U17 Slovenian C­hampionship with Union Olimpija and sec­ond division with Škofja Loka both under­ head coach Gašper Potočnik­. ­ Mesiček will be part of ­U20 Slovenian National Team­ during the summer. He was top scorer o­f Slovenian second division in 2014/201­5 season with an average of 21.1 points,­ 4 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game in­ 2014/2015 season. He also had great pas­t season in U19 Slovenian League with a­n average of 20 points per game. He was also selected into All-Tournamen­t starting 5 at the Final8 Tournament o­f Slovenian U19 and U17 League. Mesiček ­also played at the Euroleague's qualifi­cations tournament for young players in ­ L'Hospitalet, where he was named MVP an­d his team finished third.
