Sasu Salin and Union Olimpija part ways

The Finnish player leaves the Slovenian team

Slovenia
BC Union Olimpija Ljubljana announced the departure of their longtime player Sasu Salin. The Finnish National Team guard who played for the Slovenian powerhouse for 4 seasons and a half, will continue his career in another European club. The decision was not easy for both sides due to such a long and successful cooperation.

Matevž Zupančič, GM of Union Olimpija: "Sasu is a player who gave a lot to the club and the club gave a lot to him as well. Despite everything, we need to be careful about the financial situation in the club. We reached a mutual agreement that was solid for both sides. We wish Salin the best of luck! We will not look for a replacement on his position at the time, because we believe we have good solutions in Slovenian young players Hrovat, Prepelič, and we are looking also in the future."

Sasu Salin: "I will never forget Ljubljana due to almost five seasons spent here, but it is time for me to write a new chapter in my career. I had a few offers in the past already but I never decided to accept it. This time was different and I am happy that we reached a mutual agreement with Union Olimpija. Union Olimpija put me on a basketball map as a young player and trusted me with a lot. I did my best on the court at any time. I want to say thanks to all the employees of the club, my teammates, coaches and, of course, the amazing Olimpija fans! Ljubljana will always have a special place in my heart."
