Ales Pipan re-signs with Union Olimpija Ljubljana
The coach stays with the Slovenian team
Management of BC Union Olimpija Ljubljana and head coach Ales Pipan agreed to continue cooperation and signed a new 2-years deal (1+1) today. The coaching staff and management of the club will immediately start working on building a roster for the upcoming 2014/2015 season. The main team will get together for the start of the pre-season at August 10th in Stozice Arena.
Ales Pipan, head coach of Union Olimpija: "When we agreed on contract last year, we wanted a long-term cooperation and I am satisfied that the trust is still there and we stay together also in the next seasons. Last season is in the past and it is up to us to prepare for the new one. We will need to wait a little bit with all the decisions about the roster, as we do not know yet in which competitions we will be playing in the 2014/2015 season. One thing is clear; we will have a young group of guys with a lot of Slovenian players. We will not exceed the budget no matter what. Our plan is to build a young team, with good chemistry among the players that will fight for every possession."
Matevz Zupancic, general manager of Union Olimpija: "We analysed the past season which had lot of ups and downs. We believe that we played very good in Euro Cup, but in local competition, with a bit weaker team, our goals were not accomplished. With all the circumstances and taking into consideration a team that we will have in the next season, the management decided to continue cooperation with experienced Slovenian coach Ales Pipan. We believe his coaching approach and hard work is in line with current club guidelines."
