A crucial week for Khimki Moscow

Khimk may disappear this week

Russia
Will BC Khimki be regenerated or reborn like a Phoenix in Greek Mythology. This week could be the last week of a great basketball story for BC Khimki. Russian basketball looked like it was getting its old USSR basketball fame. Bronze medal with Russian National team in Olympic games, CSKA with great basketball tradition, and now BC Khimki winner of VTB League 2010-11 season, winner of EuroCup in 2011-12 season, and great season in Euro League this season. Fall of Khimki could be also a big punch to whole Russian basketball, after years derby of CSKA and Khimki which finally looked like a big European derby's could be a history. How will EuroLeague react to whole russian basketball if Khimki pulls out. Probably it would be history to have another Russian team except CSKA in EuroLeague for many years to come.

Rimas Kurtinaitis who was a sports icon in USSR as a Olympic Champion, and now as a successful coach is knocking on every door, and still has a hope, thru Russian media, tv, meeting with City Mayor,Minister of Sports of Russia. Desperately trying to achieve and keep positive run of his Club.

Khimki players will practice before Maccabi game without coaches. This way game against Maccabi might be the last game of "GRANDE" Khimki. Maybe interview of Minister of Sports Moscow Region Oleg Zholobov still gives hope who fully blames management of BC Khimki for this situation. Saying when team is playing in 3 tournaments you need to take care of sponsors before the season, and not to alert when is the final call, and there is no more money.

This week is crucial for Khimki. Wishing them good luck and solving their problems, cause it would be a pity for whole European basketball.
