Petteri Koponen: I am adapting to a new role but I am happy in Khimki
Il finnico parla dei suoi primi mesi in Russia, di Sabatini e di mercato
Petteri Koponen talked to Il Corriere di Bologna on his first months in Russia with Khimki Moscow. The Finnish player signed a multi-year deal with the Russian powerhouse.
Before Khimki, Koponen has played in Italy with Virtus Bologna.
"I am trying to adapt to my new team and new role. It is like when I landed in Bologna when I was mainly sitting on the bench. I have to play my best basketball in the minutes the coach gives to me. I must gain all the minutes and I am learning different things to do on the court. Of course, I expected to have more minutes when Khimki decided to sign me but, I repeat, in the roster there are great players and it is the right thing to fight for an important role. Khimki is having good results and that means that the coach is making the right choices. Milano interested in me? They were interested in me since two years. Last summer Khimki made the best offer and they are a team who play to win. This is my first season in Euroleague and I have to accept this situation to grow more and be a more competitive player in the future. To leave if I will play limited minutes? I don't like to leave during the season. I don't know if Milano will make official proposals in the future. For sure in Milano I would play more minutes than in Moscow. But I like Khimki and I am happy to be here".
