Chatman is a player with lots of experience in Europe. He played college ball from 1998 to 2002 and that same year he moved to Latvia to play with BK Venstpils. He stayed there for one more year and then moved to France to join Pau-Orthez. In 2006-07 he joined Dynamo Moscow of Russia with which he won the ULEB Cup trophy.
