Spartak SPB officially signs Josh Carter

Spartak St. Petersburg moved quickly to fill a void on its perimeter with the signing of swingman Josh Carter to a two-year contract on Wednesday. Carter (2.01 meters, 24 years old) arrives from Maccabi Ashdod, where he was the Israeli League's fifth-best scorer last season at 17 points per game. Carter's big numbers included 5.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.1 steals on average with solid shooting accuracy: 50.9% on two-pointers, 40.2% on threes and 80% at the free throw line. It was Carter's second season with Ashdod, and even more prolific in the first, scoring 17.4 points on 60% two-point shooting. Carter turned pro after a four year career at Texas A&M University in his native United States. Spartak had previously signed forward P.J. Tucker to anchor its offense, but during a contract window, he was picked up by Phoenix of the NBA
