Unics Kazan tabs Mike Wilkinson

Eurocup champion and Turkish Airlines Euroleague newcomer Unics of Russia announced the addition of forward Mike Wilkinson for the next two seasons. Wilkinson (2.04 meters, 29 years old) arrives from Lokomotiv Kuban of Russia, where last season he averaged 13.8 points and 6.1 rebounds in 35 Russian League games. Wilkinson will be making therefore his comeback to the Euroleague where he played with Aris BSA of Greece in the 2006-07 season as he averaged 12.3 points and 5.9 rebounds to lead his team into the Top 16. He played college basketball at Wisconsin from 2001 to 2005 and then moved to Greece to join Aris. After two years there he moved to Russia to join BC Khimki, where he stayed until 2009, winning the 2008 Russian Cup along the way. With Khimki he also reached the Eurocup Final in 2009, losing to Lietuvos Rytas. During that summer he moved to Turkey to play with Galatasaray Cafe Crown but he was back to Russia last season. In all his years in Europe, Wilkinson has played European competitions with all his teams, one Euroleague season and the rest, Eurocup appearances.
