Bogachev explains the arrival of Trinchieri in Kazan
The Russian team was close to sign Luca Banchi
Bogachev, president of Unics Kazan, explained the negotiations who brought Andrea Trinchieri to the Russian team.
Bogachev said that Unics Kazan was close to sign Luca Banchi and they considered also Bartzokas and Joan Plaza before hiring Trinchieri.
"Luca Banchi is the first coach offered to us. He won Serie A with Mens Sana Siena. We considered also Bartzokas, who coached Olympiacos winning Euroleague. But he was too expensive. So we decided to turn our attention to Banchi. We almost agreed with Banchi. Our vice-presidents travelled to Siena to talk with him. But once in Italy we found out that there were several hurdles before finalizing the deal. Then we found out that the coach was in talks with Milano where he should end up" said Bogachev. "Joan Plaza was another one of the names we were interested in. But he was too expensive. As soon as his agent knew our interest, they raise the price. At the end, we decided to hire Andrea Trinchieri. We asked info on him and he asked info on us. He is an optimist and I love that. He is also ambitious. The disadvantges are that he has never been in Russia and that he won't be available till September 22. But we have two Greeks in our team" added Bogachev.
