CSKA Moscow add size with Grigory Shukhovtsov
The big man signs a 1+1 deal
Russian champs CSKA Moscow announced on Friday the addition of center Grigory Shukhovtsov for the next season with an option for another. Shukhovtsov (2.11 meters, 30 years old) arrives from Eurocup champs Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar, where he played for the last four seasons. His best year was 2009-10 as he averaged 6.5 points and 3.6 boards, which earned him a call for the National Team camp. In September of 2012 he injured his ACL and missed most of the season that would make Loko Eurocup champ, but was able to recover to play in the last games of the VTB League finals against CSKA. "I think Grigory has all the tools to find his place on our team." CSKA coach Ettore Messina said. "He is a tremendous athlete who works hard. I got excellent expertise on him from Dmitry Shakulin who worked with Grigory during the Russian National Team camp. The player proved his character by playing fearless against us during the final series. He definitely has margin of improvement and he will provide good help to us during the season."
