Asseco Prokom Gdynia, Julian Khazzouh part ways
Il centro si accorda per rescindere
In a surprise move, Asseco Prokom Gdynia on Sunday announced that the club and center Julian Khazzouh had parted ways just three days after the player's Turkish Airlines Euroleague debut. Khazzouh scored 11 points, had 5 rebounds and blocked 3 shots over 31 minutes - the second-most playing time on his team - as Prokom lost 81-74 on the road at Elan Chalon-sur-Saone. Head coach Kestutis Kemzura was quoted in the announcement saying that the team needs a different type of center. Khazzouh (2.09 meters, 26 years old) has played most of his professional career to date in his native Australia, including the past two seasons with the Sydney Kings. He was named to the All-NBL First Team last season for the second year in a row. He led the competition in both rebounding with 10.8 per game and blocks with 2.1 per game and ranking seventh in the league in scoring with 16.4 points per game. The season before, Khazzouh posted similar numbers and was the runner-up in the league’s MVP voting. His previous European experience consists of a season each with Hanzevast Capitals Groningen in the Netherlands and Ironi Ramat Gan in Israel.
