Asseco Gdynia inks Adam Lapeta

The big man returns after five seasons

Poland
Asseco Gdynia got bigger and more experienced in the paint by signing a one-year deal with center Adam Lapeta, the club announced on Monday. Lapeta (2.17 meters, 30 years old) returns after five years to the club where he started and spent a big part of his career. He helped Gdynia win five consecutive Polish League titles from 2008 to 2012, as well as making it to the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague playoffs in 2010. He arrives from a fellow Polish side Slam Stal Ostrow, where he posted 8.6 points and 6 rebounds in the Polish League last season. “The team made an interesting offer”, Lapeta said. “They have the same very good, professional organization, plus returning home to play the EuroCup was very tempting. I hope I will be able to pass my experience in European competition on to younger players and helped them in EuroCup games.” In his career, in addition to five EuroLeague seasons with Gdynia, Lapeta has also played a pair of 7DAYS EuroCup campaigns. He made his competition debut with Stelmet Zielona Gora in 2012-13, and his latest EuroCup season was with Rytas Vilnius in 2016-17. During his career, he also played briefly with Polish side Anwil Wloclawek, and two and a half seasons with Lithuanian team Dzukija Alytus, and has also been a member of the Polish national team.
