Guard Russell Robinson, who was with Stelmet during the 2013-14 training camp, returns to Zielona Gora. He has been signed to a 10-day contract.

„We brought Russell here before the previous season, but at that time he did not really get a chance to show all his skills”, the team’s General Manager Walter Jeklin said. „He has a lot to prove to both himself and to us. We needed a player who perfectly understands his role on the team and is a valuable backup for Lukasz Koszarek. We consider him a player who puts the team first.”

„As for now, we have signed Russell to a 10-day contract. What happens next, depends on whether he is able to prove his worth to Sašo Filipovski”, said the team’s owner Janusz Jasinski. „I think has a good chance to meet the expectations of the coach. Russell is a man ready to work both offense and defense. Looking back to the 2013 TBL Finals when Quinton Hosley was our go-to-guy, Russell, playing for Turow Zgorzelec at that time, was their most valuable player”.

„It didn’t work last year for both sides as we were building a team for our first Euroleague season. At that time we were really looking for a little different player. I think that at this point, with Sašo in charge of the team, Russell might be a good fit with the team", Janusz Jasinski stated.

Russell will turn 29 on January 24. He is 6’1’’. He won an NCAA championship with the University of Kansas in 2008. He was twice selected to the Big12-Conference All-Defensive Team. As for his pro career, he played for Erdemirsporu (Turkey), Reno Bighorns, Maine Red Claws (NBA Development League), Joventut Badalona (Spain), Trabzonspor (Turkey), Pallancestro Biella (Italy), PGE Turow Zgorzelec (Poland), Champville (Lebanon) and Austin Spurs (NBA Development League).

He is expected in Zielona Gora later today.
