Oded Brandwein signs a two-year deal with Leuven Bears

26-year-old Israeli playmaker Oded Brandwein has signed a two-year guaranteed contract sheet with Belgium side Leuven Bears, according to sources with knowledge of the discussions.
Sources inform that Brandwein, an Israeli-Polish passport holder who spent the previous three seasons showcasing in the top Polish league, turned down a tryout proposal from Spanish Valladolid.
Brandwein will join Leuven as a foreigner earning $140,000 throughout, making him the second Israeli to play point for the Belgium club behind veteran guard Dror Hagag in 2004, and the first Israeli to sign for a first-division Euro-team as a foreigner since Yotam Halperin played for Spartak Saint Petersburg and Olympiacos.
Brandwein registered 11.3 points shooting 53% from within the arc, 36% from distance and 84% from the free throw line for Koszalin. During the 2012-2013 season he registered 9.5 points and 3.6 dimes per for Energa Czarni, and 12.1 points and 4 assists over the 2011-2012 season for Kotwica.
