Van Kempen joins Upstairs/Weert

Kenneth van Kempen has joined Upstairs/Weert in The Netherlands for the upcoming season. The left-handed center just finished his college career at Ohio University where he had an impressive senior season by reaching the "Final 32" in the NCAA tournement after baeting Georgetown U. (97-83) and losing to Tennessee U. (83-68) in the following round. The 208 cm Van Kempen was the leading rebounder for the Bobcats with 6,7 caroms per game and did add 6,8 ppg as well. At the defensive end of the floor his input was also extremely important and obvious. The 23-old native of Nederweert, The Netherlands, is the son of Oliver van Kempen, who was the headcoach of Weert for several years and who will be become the assistant coach of new appointed U.S. head coach Terrance Stansbury for the 2010-2011 season. Before joining Ohio U., Kenneth van Kempen was also a member of the Weert-program.
