Ploiesti win Romanian Cup

Ploiesti clinched the first trophy in the season as they grabbed the Romanian Cup title. Ploiesti defeated Otopeni in the Final and triumphed in the tournament. Arvydas Cepulis (195-G-79) scored 21 points to pace Ploiesti.
Otopeni got to a better start as they outscored Ploiesti 23:20 in the opening frame. But a Vladimir Arnautovic team struck back in the second stanza. They outgunned their opponents 24:8 to enjoy a 44:31 lead at halftime. Rashard Griffith (212-C-74, agency: Edge Sports, college: Wisconsin), Arvydas Cepulis and Mike Jones (196-G-84, agency: Passing Lane, college: Maryland) maintained the pressure after the major break as the margin kept on growing. Ploiesti built a 22-point lead into the final term. Otopeni were unable to resurrect the intrigue in this one and had to surrender at the end. Rashard Griffith and Mike Jones scored 16 points apiece for Ploiesti. Darius Hargrove had 12 points and 7 boards for the winners. Andrei Capusan (201-F-83, agency: Court Side, college: Lafayette) answered with 12 points for Otopeni.
Rovinari clinched the third spot as they held off CSU Brasov 92:76 in the consolation final. Bogdan Popescu (201-F-78, agency: Stanley International, college: Alaska-Fairb.) came up with 21 points to lead Rovinari. Kibwe Trim (208-F/C-84, agency: Priority Sports, college: Sacred Heart) added 20 points for the winning side. Mandache responded with 14 points for CSU Brasov.
