Nymburk claim Czech Cup

Nymburk clinched the third straight Czech Cup title. Yesterday they defeated Prostejov in the remake of the 2008 Final game. Prostejov once again were upset just one step away from the title as Nymburk stole the show. Prostejov looked solid at the start as Ian Hanavan (202-F-80, agency: Interperformances, college: Evansville) and Jason Miller (208-F/C-80, college: Oklahoma St.) put the team ahead 8:2. But Petr Benda (203-F/C-82, agency: Court Side) scored 6 points in a row to draw things level. Justin Gray (188-G-84, agency: Octagon, college: Wake Forest) nailed 8 points in the final three minutes of the first frame as Nymburk won the starting quarter 18:16. The NBL defending champions opened the second quarter with 18 straight points to open a 20-point lead midway through the second stanza. Prostejov looked stunned and went into the dressing room down by 21 points. Nymburk easily kept their opponents at bay throughout the third frame and managed to stretch the lead to 28 points with one quarter remaining. Ian Hanavan knocked down 6 points in a row to clip the margin at 26 points early in the final term but the intrigue was long gone in this one. Nymburk breezed to the victory and celebrated the third consecutive triumph in the Cup.
Justin Gray secured 14 points to lead Nymburk. Goran Jagodnik (202-F-74, agency: Beo Basket) added 13 points, while Arthur Lee (185-G-77, agency: Avi Zilberman, college: Stanford) had 12 points for the winners. Jason Miller answered with 19 points and 9 boards for Prostejov in defeat.
