Jan Pommer will join the International Basketball Expo
The International Basketball Expo, one of the 18 events of the International Sports Convention in Geneva, will add another great lecturer to the Conferences. On December 10th Jan Pommer, CEO, since 2005, of the Beko Basketball Bundesliga, the Division I German League, will speak on the development of the League, from 2009, and its target to be the best European basketball league within 2020.
Pommer studied law and history of art at the Universities of Wurzburg, Friburg, Salamanca and Cologne. He started his career as a lawyer at the "Cornelius und Thiel" firm, for then becoming head of sponsoring department for the marketing agency Bob Bomliz Group GmbH, former sponsor and partner of Basketball Bundesliga.
He is also a Board Member of the ULEB (Union of European Leagues of Basketball), and a member of the Executive Committee of the Law of the Bar Sport AG of Germany. In 2010, the magazine Horizont gave him the award of "Best Sport Manager of The Year".
It is the second basketball league in Europe as the average spectators per game, 4.675, after Spain, with an increase of 20% in the last four years...8 millions of people in Germany are very interested on BBL...In the last six years has incresead the revenues of 158%, reaching the 88 millions of euros...Its arenas are among the most modern and functional in Europe, such as, among them, the O2World Arena of Berlin (14.500 spectators) or the Audi Dome of Munich.
