Zalgiris Kaunas got the LOC for Donnie McGrath
The player ready to make his debut
Zalgiris Kaunas fortified its backcourt with the signing of guard Donnie McGrath through the end of the 2013-14 season. McGrath (1.93 meters, 28 years old) takes over the roster spot vacated by Ibby Jaaber, who left the club last month. McGrath arrives from Greek club PAOK Thessaloniki, where he averaged 13.3 points and 3.8 assists in 16 Greek League games this season, leading the club to fourth place in the standings before his departure. That was his second stint with PAOK and his fourth season in the Greek League after previously suiting up for AEK Athens and Egaleo.
Zalgiris will be McGrath’s first Euroleague club since he played for Virtus VidiVici Bologna in 2007-08. He averaged 7.6 points over 10 Euroleague games that season. He has also played for Cantu and Varese in Italy and Cholet Basket in France. McGrath will be eligible to debut against Panathinaikos in Zalgiris’s next Euroleague home game on February 21.
