Lietuvos Rytas lands young Redikas

Lithuanian champion Lietuvos Rytas announced on Thursday the signing of young guard Dovydas Redikas to a multiyear deal. Redikas (193, 18) arrives from KK Akademija Vlinius of the Lithuanian second division where last season he averaged 14.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.4 steals in over 29 games. He made his debut in that same team in 2008. Redikas is expected to play on loan this season for Perlas Vilnius, a Lithuanian team that also plays in the Baltic League, where Redikas will be able to improve and grow as a player before becoming a full-time member at Lietuvos Rytas. Redikas was also part of the Zalgiris junior team and played at the 2010 Nike International Junior Tournament with the team. In Paris, he averaged 18.3 points and 2.3 rebounds in three games and was named to the All-Tournament team. He also reached the title game in 2009 in Berlin, also with Zalgiris.
