Zalgiris, the miracle happened

Zalgiris Kaunas, one of the most important basketball clubs in Europe, has a new owner: Vladimir Romanov. The native of Tver Oblast is chairman of UBIG Investments which is the majority shareholder in Scottish Premier League football club Hearts. He also controls the Lithuanian club FBK Kaunas and the Belarusian Premier League club FC MTZ-RIPO.
Romanov will have the 75% of Zalgiris' shares while Sabonis will have the 25% of them. The club will also raise the share capital of €5mlns.
The Lithuanian club since last summer was facing a serious financial crisis and the debt reached €6mlns. The new board of the club will be composed by nine members (five of them from UBIG) while Motejunas will stay as GM.
Zalgiris with the new owner can now start to pay its debt and programme the next season.
