Zalgiris Kaunas lands Marius Grigonis
Grigonis inks a three-year deal
After its best EuroLeague campaign in nearly two decades, Zalgiris Kaunas has begun reloading for another run at the title with the signing of swingman Marius Grigonis to a three-year contract. Grigonis (1.98 meters, 24 years old) arrives from German side ALBA Berlin, where he averaged 11.6 points on 47.5% three-point shooting in 16 7DAYS EuroCup games last season. He also tallied 3.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. Grigonis was similarly effective in the German League with averages of 12.0 points on 47.2% three-point shooting, 2.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.2 steals over 47 appearances. A product of the Zalgiris youth academy, Grigonis returns home to play after spending time in Spain with Penas Huesca, Manresa and Iberostar Tenerife, the latter of which he helped win the 2017 Basketball Champions League. He is also a regular with the Lithuanian basketball team; he played at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, won a bronze medal at the 2013 U19 World Championships and a silver medal at the 2010 U16 European Championships.
