VEF Riga eyes Arturs Stalbergs

VEF Riga showed their interest in Arturs Stalbergs (196-F-84, college: Evansville) services. A 25-year-old forward played for Liepajas Lauvas in LBL last season. His stats came up to 13.9 points, 4.8 boards and 2.4 assists per game in LBL. He also averaged 15.2 points and 5.4 boards in the BBL Challenge Cup. The player is reported to have started training with VEF Riga these days.
VEF Riga also aim at signing Ingus Bankevics (195-G/F-85) from Valmiera. A 24-year-old shooting guard had a solid season in LBL. He scored 15.1 points and pulled down 2.4 rebounds per appearance for Valmiera. He has also been reported to start training with VEF Riga.
In the meantime VEF Riga decided to part ways with Evgeniy Kolesnikov (195-G-85) and Luke Cooper (183-G-84, college: Alaska-Anch.). Kolesnikov finished the year averaging 19.4 points in BBL and 18.1 points per game in LBL. He arrived in Riga from Spartak Primorie Vladivostok in 2008.
The Australian guard posted 6.2 points and 4.1 assists in the BBL games. Coopers average stats in LBL came up to 6.8 points and 4.5 assists.
