Hot day in Latvia

Very hot day in Latvia because Friday is the deadline to sign a player.

Latvian National Team forward Gatis Jahovics (200-F-84, agency: FCM), out for the entire season due to an injury, left ASK Riga and signed for VEF Riga, coached by Valdis Valters. Jahovics will be able to play in April or May so will use the period with VEF to get in shape.

Another player who left ASK Riga is the rising star Dairis Bertans (192-G/F-89) that signed a long term contact with BK Ventspils. ASK Riga is in financial difficulties (yesterday there was almost a strike for the Baltic League game against Valmiera) and could not match the offer made by Ventspils.

ASK Riga GM, said that they are on the market looking for a replacement of Bertāns and most likely will be a foreign player. Couple of sponsors agreed to help the team in paying the salaries for the upcoming two months.
